Bernardus Calcanius was a skillful master who is attributed to the Guarnerius school by many. He initially imitated Guarneri’s model, later he followed the flatter model of Stradivari. His wood is beautiful and the varnish is of red-yellow to golden orange color. He had a strong influence on the Genuese school. starting in 1740 he worked together with Pazarini and his models became higher.
